For the product categories that must comply with the new legislation, we show historic insights drawn from repair data collected by voluntary community repair initiatives. The underlying data has been collected by community repairers’ initiatives such as repair cafés worldwide according to the Open Repair Data Standard. Manufacturers and importers will be responsible for determining the repairability index of their products, based on the technical standards provided. A score is calculated for each criterion, based on rating grids defined by the Law. The final score of the reparability index is an average of the criteria. The repairability index provides a score from 1 to 10.

The score will be displayed next to the price, along with a url or QR code for more explanation on the calculation of the repairability index. The index will be displayed using an icon and a colour code, ranging from red for the lowest level of repairability to dark green for the highest level.

Once you select a product category, a pop-up button will appear. This pop-up screen provides repair insights for various product categories based on historical data collected by voluntary community repair initiatives (source: The Open Repair Alliance, https://openrepair.org/ , license: CC BY-SA 4.0). It gives you an idea of which products are more likely to be fixed successfully and lists the most common failures, based on AI-driven analysis of failure descriptions from the same database.
2. Select the brand you are interested in.
By selecting a product category, a list of brands for which we have sufficient information is shown.
3. Find the repair index for models on the market.
Moving to the lowest model level, one can find the repair index score and subscores as assessed by manufacturers based on the technical standards provided by the legislation.
